At Lake Meadows Senior Assisted Living, residents receive tailored care in order to live as independently as possible. Care services include support with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, bathing, and hygiene. Our enhanced personal care program, Along the Journey, goes beyond the physical, focusing on emotional well-being, comfort, and respect for residents and families. The Gift of Community: How Moving Before the Holidays Supports Emotional Well-Being
During this month’s volunteer visit, participants had the opportunity to not only prepare homemade treats but also personally deliver them to the feline section of the shelter. After crafting the treats earlier in the day, the group made a special stop to share them with the cats, creating a warm moment filled with compassion, gentle petting, and connection with their furry friends.
This hands-on interaction is always a monthly highlight, giving everyone a chance to slow down, show love, and spend meaningful time with the animals in need of care and attention. Residents enjoyed another meaningful day during their monthly volunteer visit the Humane Society for Hamilton County (Indiana), continuing their ongoing commitment to supporting local animals in need.
During today’s visit, the group stayed busy assisting with a variety of hands-on tasks, including filling enrichment items for dogs and preparing homemade cat treats to help feed and care for the shelter’s feline residents. Each activity provided an opportunity to give back while learning more about the daily needs of shelter animals.
A highlight of the day was a special visit from Ray, a beautiful and friendly husky currently waiting for his forever home. With his gentle temperament and responsive nature, Ray quickly captured everyone’s hearts and made quite the impression.

We are officially putting the pieces together for our new bird sanctuary! Today, the foundation took shape as we set the poles 3 feet deep into the ground, securing them with cement, stone, and careful packing to ensure lasting strength. Each post is standing tall and sturdy, ready for the next step.
Next up, we are preparing the birdhouses to be placed on top of the poles, bringing our vision to life. Soon, this peaceful space by the lake will be filled with charm, color, and new homes for our feathered friends. This morning, our residents headed to one of their favorite monthly jobs at @thegoodsamaritannetwork where they spent a couple of hours hard at work organizing labels, receipts, and tags. 🏷️🧾
They truly enjoy this special outing each month, stepping in wherever there is a need and lending a helping hand. It fills our hearts to know we are making a difference, giving back, and supporting our community in such a meaningful way. 💙
